Questionnaire!

Thanks everyone for all the questions!

what article of clothing do you regret buying?
I generally tend to avoid buyer's remorse, but I do regret all this Abercrombie and Hollister stuff I bought the summer before high school started. Because a month later I didn't want to wear any of it!

what impulse buy are you most proud of?
I would have to say my Wet Seal faux leather jacket... I didn't know if I would wear it but I do, a lot.

what are your fave cheapo stores?
Hmm, Forever 21, Wet Seal, Target. They have mostly crap but there are usually a few gems to be found among the masses of clothes. I don't tend to have good luck at H&M though I've found a few good things there.

What is the weirdest thing you've ever eaten?
Ooh ooh sushi with raw quail's egg! And I've eaten all sorts of raw fish and shellfish, before I got sick from sushi and now can't eat it anymore without my stomach spazzing out *cries*. I always go for the weird foods though, oh yeah I think I had boar meatballs once. And my friend force-fed me a cookie that had been dipped in mustard in 5th grade. It was gross.

What was the first CD/tape you owned?
The soundtrack to Anastasia on cassette! I loved that movie.... Before that I had this book on tape called Two Cool Cows and I thought it was the best thing ever.

What is the one trend you wish would go away and never come back?
Thongs, and super low rise pants. I dislike both, separate and together.

Would you rather have a one hit wonder or be an extra in an epic film?
Hmm that's a hard one. Maybe the extra because it would just be cool while having a one hit wonder would be kind of sad....

If your name began with an m, what would it be?
If my parents picked, Morgan (my middle name). If I picked, probably Marly. Or something weird.

What's the number one thing on your Christmas list?
My Christmas list was very last minute and not well thought out.... =P It was probably the gift cards I asked for which my mom didn't get. I think she thinks buying gift cards is rude or something, but I'd rather pick stuff out myself.

What's your favourite subject in school?
Hm I'm more of an English/history person, but I don't dislike math or science. It depends on the class and teacher. Currently? 20th Century History (so interesting) or (sometimes) chemistry, because my class is really fun.

Are any of your friends interested in fashion?
A few are, most aren't. I'm the most obsessive of them, though.

If your hair could manage your ideal hairstyle, what would it be?
A bouffant or a beehive. Every day. Unfortunately my hair is very uncooperative.

If you could raid anyone's closet, who would it be and why?
Queen Michelle! Her wardrobe is utterly epic. I just adore it all.

Where did you get yours [Minnetonka moccasin boots] at? Did you buy them yourself, or did you get mommy and daddy to pay for them?
I got them for Christmas last year, but they were from Urban Outfitters. So yes, my mommy and daddy payed for them. =P

what WAS going through your mind when you made that face?
Wait, is my camera going, no, the battery's dead, I'm gonna be late for school, oh wait, the light is blinking, ahh, I have to check my face in the mirror, no, argh the flash just went off!

what is the most embarassing/hideous fashion item that you own, and if you had to style it now, how would you?
This orange jumpsuit from the 70s. I found it in this random church sale in upstate New York and it is hideous! It's just weird. There's beading on it that's falling off and it fits me but the legs are too short and the crotch is too low but not in a trendy way. I'll do a post sometime about it....

also, later on, could commenters possibly post articles of clothing and ask you how you would style it affordably? :D. like a styling challenge!
You are a genius.

what do you want to be when you grow up? anything fashion related?
Currently I'm thinking journalist, preferably fashion journalist, but I'm not too sure yet.

What are your sources of inspiration?
Magazines, runway, blogs, blah blah blah. Usually I go into my closet and find a piece I want to wear and then stick things with it.

If you could own every piece of one fashion collection, which collection would you choose?
I kind of want to say this, but I won't. That's the easy way out. I'd much rather have this Christian Lacroix haute couture collection, lace face coverings and all.

What is your biggest pet peeve?
Rude people. Or extremely immature people.

What is your favorite book? Favorite movie?
I could never pick either. It tends to be whatever I'm reading/watching at the moment. That said, I do love the His Dark Materials trilogy by Philip Pullman. And The Baroque Cycle by Neal Stephenson was epically awesome. And for movies, I watched Don't Mess With The Zohan last night so I would have to pick that.*

how old were you when you first started getting into fashion/clothes/etc?
Hmm well I first started caring about what I wore in 6th grade, but I was obsessed with Aeropostale (why???). In 8th grade I started to get into fashion, and freshman year is when I really started dressing like I do now.

What is your height?
Five foot seven. Actually five foot six and three quarters but shhh you don't know that. I reached my current height in 7th grade, but I still dream of gaining the extra quarter inch....

What do you regret in your Freshman year?
Hm, I think I won't have any regrets until junior year when I start thinking, gawd what an idiot I was when I was a freshmannn! Though I guess I do regret not having any upperclassmen friends who made fun of me and called me "freshie", like Danielle and I do now to Red. It's my life's biggest regret.

is cheeto really your last name???
Yep. My grandfather actually founded the company that makes Cheetos, so I have a free lifetime supply.

How do you pay for things? Part-time job? Babysitting? Your parents buy stuff for you?
I babysit occasionally, and that's basically the only money I get, other than gifts. Fortunately my parents buy me a lot of my clothes (they refuse to pay me allowance or anything though).

If you had to eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Breakfast cereal. Blueberry Morning or Multigrain Cheerios mixed with Frosted Shredded Wheats, with 1% milk. I could definitely live on that shtuff.

I know you don't have school, but because of a snow day? whatever happened to winter break?
I would like to draw attention to the fact that my school is evil and we had school right up to December 23rd.

how did you do that with your jeans?!
I used scissors to cut the jeans while I was still wearing them (not the best idea, but I didn't feel like taking them off) and then I washed them, which makes them get all fuzzy on the edges. It's pretty easy!

*I'm joking, don't worry! That was an absolutely horrible (but at times funny) movie. It was really awkward watching with my family though....

I hope everyone's having a great holiday!

Don't Mess With the Zohan was terrible. My dad thought that seeing it as a family would make for a terrific Father's Day celebration....oh my God, that was...so, so bad.

yea, i heard that zohan movie was horid...putrid even!

and oh my, all the hollister and aero stuf i have in my closet! they make up 70% of my closet, and i totally regret it! cuz i don't want to wear them anymore either...but since my closet is overflowing, i am taking baby steps in buying more stylish stuff...which is why i try to incorporate all those aero/hollister stuff into fashionable outfits, without looking too mall-y...

great post though...it was nice getting to know you better.

pahhhh ahahah thongs aren't a trend! they're just...underwear that avoids panty lines! but if you really want them to go away, i can accept that. :)

I keep wanting to think you're kidding about the cheeto thing... are you? Or are you 100% serious?!

I enjoyed reading this very much :) I totally feel you on the thong/super-low-rise part. Ugh. Nastiest combination.

I love how everyone went through the same phases. You even see kids now doing the exact same things that were happening like five years ago (yeah, maybe one or two of the stores are different, I think I was too old by the time Hollister came onto the scene. I stepped in one about a year back, I couldn't deal with it.
And the thongs and low rises! Man, I had almost forgotten about that.

Hey,
like everyone else, I'm wondering about the cheetos thing.
If not anything else, it's a really cool name.
Thankfully we don't have Hollister etc over here, but I still don't think I would have liked it very much, I always dressed really horribly on purpose, in order to look different when I was younger
